Current Government Travel Requirement for Portugal
Travelling from the UK
If you are travelling from the UK please check the UK Government FCO website for requirements to enter Portugal:
At the time of writing (Sept 9 the 2021) all travellers from the UK to Portugal NEED TO provide evidence of a negative Government approved Lateral flow Antigen test within 48 hours of departure. This can be done from the comfort of your own home for about £30-40 or at many of the leading airports a few hours before your flight. THIS IS THE CASE EVEN IF YOU HAVE BEEN DOUBLE VACCINATED.
All guests regardless of departure country, are required to fill in the Portugal arrival passenger locator form:
Please use this address for your locator form:
Corgas Bravas, Rua da Cortica, Alportel, Sao Bras de Alportel, 8150-040
As Portugal is on the Amber List, when returning to the UK all travellers regardless of vaccination status will need to do rapid antigen test within 48 hours of departure – our guests have been using the lateral from test from https://www.c19testing.co.uk where you just need to upload a photo of your result and passport to get the result sent to your email a short while later – make sure you purchase this test kit and bring it with you before you fly to Portugal. If you forget to do the test at Faro airport for €25 but you need to do it 4 hours before your flight and may need to book a private transfer if you need to leave the retreat before 0600 on departure day.
As Portugal is on the Amber List, all U.K. travellers also need to book a PCR test to do for when you arrive into the U.K. regardless of whether you have been double vaccinated or not, and it needs to be done within 2 days of arrival and the booking reference code added to your U.K. passenger locator form.
You will need to complete the UK passenger locator form found here:
Guests who have not been double vaccinated will need to quarantine for ten days and do a PCR test on Day 2 and also Day 8.
Travelling from Europe
If you are travelling from within Europe to Portugal please check the Portugal Government website:
At the time of writing there are no restrictions for entry into Portugal for travellers from within Europe but they must provide evidence of a negative Lateral flow Antigen test within 48 hours or PCR test within 72 hours of departure or a valid EU Digital Covid certificate (vaccination).
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. We have done this journey several times in the last year and all the document checks are now automated on arrival back into the UK and very quick and easy to process. In Faro documents will be manually checked on arrival and may take a little longer to clear but there are fewer flights arriving than into the UK. It’s a simple process and not difficult.
